Minutes of Meeting on July 30, 2008

Members present:

The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. by Elon "Ubu" Walters.

The officer nomination process was discussed. Members were encouraged prior to the meeting to nominate individuals for officer positions and members could nominate themselves. Current officers spoke with the candidates to confirm their acceptance of the nomination and note that this was contingent on the member being 95% certain that they plan to return to Camp for summer, 2009. An electronic ballot was created and sent to all members. This was done in response to a request from members who were interested in voting, and were at Camp this summer, but could not be at the meeting. The goal was to be more inclusive.

Presidential candidates Brad Coppel and Seth Frankle than spoke. Ballots were cast.

Neil Berlin provided a treasury report. Highlights of the 2007 budget:

A four week Campership was provided by the Order of the Leaf-Campus Chapter.

Profit was made on the license plate holder, which continue to be sold with Airywear sales for $5.

More digital cameras were purchased for camp.

An Order of the Leaf website was developed.

$2,400 from reserves was used.

Neil Berlin is not continuing as Treasurer and was thanked for his service.

The 2008 budget was presented and includes a four week campership ($3300).

Carol Schneider moved to pass the budget and Brad Coppel seconded the motion.

Old Business

The license plate holder program was discussed. They are still being sold for $5 and a profit has been made.

Mitzvah cards were discussed. These cards would be used as note cards individuals could purchase as well as used as cards to thank those who make donations to the Order of the Leaf. The cards Camp Louise Circle uses were discussed as an example. Camp Airy and Louise has a thank you card system for donors to the Pargman Fund. Marilyn Riffkin is going to look into this project.

Bill's Garden area was discussed. Work needs to be done there with clean up and planting.

The website is www.orderoftheleaf.org

Leaf Weekend is September 19-21. It is important that those attending give accurate information of when they are going to be in attendance. This will help with meal and accommodation planning.

Josh Fine is going to create an Order of the Leaf Weekend Facebook event.

New Business

The Fun Park was discussed. One more fun activity is needed. The campers would like a new activity. A moon bounce, inflatable slide, and remote control car track were discussed. Money from reserves would be used to make the purchase.

Brad Coppel, President
Jake Frelick, Vice President
Andy Bursten, Treasurer
Aaron Gorman, Secretary
Jason Epstein, Alumni Representative
David Sack, Alumni Representative
