Reunion Weekend 2020
Camp Airy Order of the Leaf
Virtual Reunion, September 13, 2020
Pre-Registration is required for the Zoom conferences: Register Here
The Zoom link you received by email will admit you to all of the sessions noted below (all times Eastern U.S.). The link is unique to you and valid for one user. If you share it with someone and you both attempt to access a session simultaneously, one of you will be locked out. Please encourage others interested in attending to register.
For those unfamiliar, please see basic instructions for joining a Zoom meeting.
Please make sure your Zoom screen name includes the name you used to register. We can’t admit you if your screen name shows, for example, “My iPhone” or similar. If you need help, please see these instructions.
Finally, please be considerate of all attendees and remember to mute your microphone when you are not speaking, especially if there is extraneous noise at your location. The 1:00 and 7:00 sessions will have well over 100 and 200 attendees respectively, and we will need to immediately mute all attendees if extraneous noise interferes with the program. Thanks for your understanding.
Schedule of Activities, Sunday, September 13, 2020
All times shown are Eastern U.S. Please log in at least five minutes before the start of each session to allow sufficient time to move you from the waiting room.
1:00 p.m to 2:00 p.m.“ish” “Issues of Antisemitism and Social Justice Concerning Us in the Here and Now,” a discussion with Rabbi Bruce Kahn. Join our honoree, who (in addition to his 60+ year association with Camp Airy) is renowned for his leadership role in the fields of social justice and civil rights activism. Rabbi Kahn will address topics of particular interest to the audience, as well as engaging in questions and answers.
In preparation for this session, Rabbi Kahn has prepared an introduction to the discussion which can be downloaded here. Any advance questions concerning this content or requests for coverage of other topics should be sent by 9 a.m. Sunday to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Questions that arise during the discussion should be sent to the host via Zoom chat. They will be relayed to Rabbi Kahn without your name, unless you specifically request that it be used. More info about Zoom chat is available here.
4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Decades Social “Hour” (1 of 2). Reconnect with or meet new Camp friends from your time at Airy by visiting one or more Zoom breakout rooms representing the 1960s (or prior), ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, ’00s or ’10s.
Upon entering, you will be in a centralized waiting room before being admitted to your breakout room. You will need to change your Zoom screen name to reflect the room to which you want to be moved. If, for example, you want to visit the ’80s room, change your screen name to “80s Your Name” and you will be moved there.
If you want to visit multiple rooms, you can only visit one at a time. Exit the first room and you'll return to the waiting room. Change your screen name to “90s Your Name” and you’ll then be moved into that room. Repeat this process as needed. Instructions for changing your screen name can be found here.
7:00 p.m. to 7:50 p.m. Order of the Leaf Ceremony, including presentation of the Lifetime Passion Achievement Award to Rabbi Bruce Kahn. A souvenir PDF-format program book commemorating the evening is available for downloading here.
In the highly unlikely event of a major technical failure, an alternate (non-Zoom) link will be immediately sent to your email so you can view the program.
8:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Decades Social Hour (2 of 2). See instructions for the 4:00 p.m. social.
See some photos from past reunions.
